nine is fine

in the words of wyatt,"  i'm finally nine!"  i am still amazed that this kid isn't a baby anymore and frankly, he is turning into a really fun person. i stole him from school for lunch and we had a great time. he was so happy to go to the book store and get a new book, enjoy some lunch with me and Olivia. he requested yummy cupcakes for this birthday, so i went to a cupcake store and we enjoyed those instead of cake. we are so happy to have him in our family.

8 is great

in our church when you are 8 you get baptized. wyatt made the choice to be baptized and it was a such a great day. he was lucky enough to share the day with one of his really good friends, billy. they were so handsome all dressed in white. we were able to have a talk by my dad on baptism and a talk from billy's grandpa on the holy ghost. it was a really great day and we had some awesome friends come support us.

shhhhhhh

today was a long day- that started too early for my liking and when we finally made it home around 2:30- my back was killing me and i needed to lay down. i sent all the kids to their rooms for my mandated hour of quiet time and laid down myself. i did not intend to fall asleep but the sleep gods had other plans. apparently i fell asleep and the boys decided that the hour of quiet time was a waste of time.

this is where you would worry they got into trouble or were loud or something along those lines. instead, my sweet, wonderful wyatt ushered the other two downstairs to watch some quiet cartoons and as he said," shhh, lets let mom sleep, she must be tired."
when i woke up some time later i realized what had occurred and i was super grateful for my oldest kid and his sweet heart. my tired body then rewarded him with a trip to the pool.

giddy up

in february wyatts school had western day where the kids got to show off their square dancing skills. it was so funny to go see him dancing with a girl- he kept telling glenn not to laugh at him while he danced with her. it was cute. he tried to be a gentleman to her but she was not having it, anytime he would try to touch her she would push him off for a second and then realize they had to hold hands.

missing... tooth

this post is a bit hard to write because i am really not ready for this new phase. i tried to stop it from coming and it came anyway- wyatt lost his first tooth tonight. for me this is huge- he is no longer my baby boy, or even my little boy- he is a KID. school going, sports playing, tooth losing kid.

we noticed his tooth was loose about a week and a half ago- it was the friday of spring break and we were eating lunch with my mom and he said my tooth feels weird. i went over and wiggled it and sure enough it was starting to become loose. he was super excited about the fact that he was starting this new phase. fast forward to practice last friday night- he got hit in the mouth with a ball- he was super lucky that all it really did was knock his tooth super loose- all weekend he has been playing with the tooth with his tongue and then tonight he pulled it out- he was so excited for this to happen and he thinks that the tooth fairy is going to bring him money tonight- ahhh why did he have to grow up..

snails and puppy dog tails

isn't that what boys are made of ? so for about a week wyatt has wanted to catch a lizard but always just missed grabbing one. well on tuesday he got one with a bit of help from dad. he was so happy- we had to document the success. he did have thoughts about taking it home and keeping it as a pet- i had to nix that idea- one pet and 3 little kids is all we need :)

they are dropping like flies

that's what the school nurse said when she called me yesterday. i was in shock when she called b.c wyatt seemed fine that morning and didn't complain and ate great but somewhere in the day he got a fever and a really bad runny nose. so he came home early and because his fever didn't leave till late last night and he looked pretty pathetic, i kept him home today. that meant he was going to miss his holiday party today and not get his gift to his teacher- he was upset but drew was devastated- i mean full on tantrum about wyatt not going to school. it was not a pretty sight. well here we are hours later and wyatt is feeling great and has not had a fever all day- he is tired and i am hoping that they all go to bed early tonight- we shall see. so this year there are no pictures of the holiday party- bummer-

eye spy

so wyatt didn't do so well with his eye exam at his check up= which led to a trip to the eye dr. we went together cause I needed a new pair of glasses too. turns out wyatt has an astigmatism just like me. so this bundle of cuteness needs glasses to help him see a bit better.

I think he looks great.

the dr appt that sucked

olivia finally had her 18 month check up the other day. it was a not good experience. wyatt had to get a shot for school and so i scheduled their appts for the same time. good in theory, bad in reality. glenn got wyatt freaked out about his shot and in the end it was a horrible experience with me holding wyatt down. the worst part is that i learned he needs 2 more shots.. i think i will let glenn go to that appt. so after wyatts freak out it was olivia's turn. she needed 2 shots and she did better than wyatt. we had to get her follow up blood test done on her iron level. everything came out fine which is great.

all you do is feed me

we have entered the world of talking back and i want to leave soon. wyatt has suddenly started talking back and it SUCKS. i miss my sweet wyatt- he comes out every now and again but lately its been bad wyatt. i wanted to get this down for memory sake.

so heres the story of BAD WYATT in full force.
we were doing a major clean of the boys room and wyatt was not listening or helping. glenn was getting frustrated and i was just totally annoyed to begin with and wyatts attitude was not helping. he finally did something that broke the straw on my back and i yelled at him and sent him to his bed. we were reaching the end of cleaning and he just started yelling at us. we didn't love him, we didn't care about him. these two phrases were repeated over and over. drew was totally confused and kept telling wyatt that he was his brother and his name was drew. then the kicker, ya know the thing they say that makes you just laugh. while he is yelling that we don't love him we only love drew and olivia he says "all you ever do is feed me" i just died laughing. it was so funny that i had to leave the room. his outburst lasted for another 10 minutes and then he cooled off. later he apologized and i said do you want me to feed you now? sometimes he can say the funniest things when he is talking back but most of the time its horrible. i hope we can nip some of this talking back in the bud b.c i can't stand it. oh the joys of children growing up...

first born

when i was first reaching that point in life where kids were the next step, i could have never imagined a son like wyatt. he is an amazing kid. there are the bad days that we all have but wyatt has so many great days that its easy to overlook the bad days. when i told wyatt we would not be going to disneyworld this trip he could have thrown a big fit or been really upset, it would have been justified a little, i mean we are talking about the magic kingdom. instead wyatt went on to tell me that we could do other stuff in fl, like go to the beach because its free. he in a very calm and understanding voice, let me know that a museum trip and a zoo trip would be great to do instead. how lucky am i to have that kid?? as a brother wyatt is AMAZING! he willingly shares most of the time and is always wanting drew to play with him. at church he will let drew sit with him to help him feel alittle more comfortable in primary. one of the ladies told me a story of how drew fell asleep on wyatt during sharing time and wyatt just sat there with his arm around drew patting him to help him stay asleep. he looks out for olivia and wants to include her in things as well. he is such a delight to have in our family. with glenns job i depend on wyatt more than i should but he is 98% of time a great helper to me with jobs and his siblings. we love this first born and could not have asked for a better member of our team.

wyatt - update (warning details about actual cut below)

so wyatt is healing up nicely.. he will get his stitches out next monday and that should be interesting. when he was 18 months old he cut his eyebrow open and needed 3 stitches. to get those 3 out it took 4 nurses, me to hold him down and the dr to take them out.. this time should be interesting. he thinks it was pretty cool coming home b/c he was told to take it easy all day. he kept telling me over and over that he didn't have to do any of his jobs and i had to do them all.

not to be gross (this is your warning) he did not cut his penis but cut his scrotum (balls, testicles, family jewels- whatever you prefer) open on the left side. he was very lucky that it was not a little worse or it would have cut it all the way open anywho... thank you for all your well wishes... he is pretty much back to normal..

saturday

here is what my saturday morning was suppose to look like:
7:00-7:15ish- feed kids breakfast
7:15-7:30- get kids ready
7:30-8:00- get ready and leave for soccer game at 8
8:30-9:30 -soccer game
9:30-10:00 -watch the rest of maya's soccer game
10:10-11:00- go to baby shower with mom

here is how my morning actually went:
7:15- crap i have to get and get the kids feed- olivia is still asleep
7:30 - the kids are eating
7:45- wyatt jumps down from washing his hands and hurts himself on the cupboard handle
7:47- we realize that wyatt is bleeding from his boy area
7:50- we realize that the cut is going to need stitches
8:10- we arrive at the emergency room
8:45- we are seen by the dr who is super great
9:15 - wyatt asks them to stop numbing his cut b/c it hurts- at least he asked please as he was crying
9:30- wyatt receives 6 stitches on his boy part that contains small objects
10:00 - we leave the hospital and head home.
10:45- i leave to get his prescription filled
11:45- the 10 minute wait at walgreens was more like 45

what a day... luckily for me i am with my parents who were willing to watch drew and olivia while i took wyatt. with glenn out of town for 3 more weeks i was super grateful for them. wyatt is doing great, just a little sore and bruised from hitting the handle so hard. it was an interesting day...

practice makes perfect....

wyatt started soccer last week. he was so excited to get to be on a real team. he is on the titans and their colors are yellow, white and black. we had our first practice on friday and we quickly learned that he needs a LOT of practice. the only thing we don't need to practice is our dance when we score a goal- we need to work on not doing that dance. here were a few quick shots i grabbed while we were there.

back to school, back to school...

we were super lucky to find out about and be able to enroll wyatt in the school districts pre-k program. he now goes to a local elementrey school for 3 hours and he gets to ride on the big school bus. he was so excited to get on the bus. we waited about 30 minutes for the bus to come pick him up b/c they told us it would get there around noon and it should up at 12:30 and then it was suppose to drop him off around 4:00-4:30. we got the van pulled up to the bus stop so we could wait in air conditioning but at 5:05 it has still not come. glenn called the school to see what the deal was and the lady on the phone told him it was running late... we were both laughing so hard about that. yeah lady we got that it was running late, we mostly wanted to make sure our kid was actually on a bus coming home. he showed up at 5:50- two hours after school ended. apparently there was a mix up about what bus he is actually be on coming home. the bus driver of the bus that he was on said he was not on her list but its the bus they told us when we registared him so hopefully we can get that squared away tomorrow.
when we asked him what he did today it was a interesting mix of stuff. i asked him if he got to go play outside and he told me no, but then told glenn that he got to go outside and learned not to throw balls on the roof. he did seem to enjoy his day even of most of it was on a bus. he ate his dinner and fell asleep rather quickly today. i have some pictures but my camera cord is missing, once i find that i will upload the pics.
I was so happy for him that we were able to find a program that will keep him going in the learning process and hopefully help him be super prepared for kindergartin next year!
